We Must Follow the Truth

Whether we are learning about the physical world that we live in such as the issue of global warming, or learning about a social issue such as different views on the issue of abortion, we all need to understand the truth. If someone's position is founded on falsehoods, ultimately that is not helpful either for the individual or for society. I have earlier discussed the idea that if one wants to truly be pro-life, that means that one needs to support reproductive rights for women and support the individual's right to choose abortion at times. More women die from pregnancy or have illness related to pregnancy and delivery by far than the number of women that die from abortion-related complications. Those are the medical facts even though some do not like to acknowledge those facts. I believe that God gave us brains to use and that God is not against all abortions.
It is so sad that the abortion issue has become so politicized and that many fervent members of the Christian faith believe that God is against all abortions. I do believe that God does not want that and I will continue to express my views for that purpose.
It is also sad that so many do not understand the science of global warming related to the human use of fossil fuels. We have already seen the effects of global warming with more episodes of drought as well as flooding, serious heat that kills people, areas where crops are no longer supported and the local population becomes climate refugees that then strain other areas of the world.
A report released this last week in Science magazine shows that part of the sea level rise in the last twenty-five years is due to the loss of soil moisture in various parts of the world. As the world heats up, more water evaporates from the soil.
There have been so many valid scientific articles over the last 50 years that show that our global society is heading in the wrong direction to have a sustainable future. Many more people are educated, but many are following a variety of falsehoods. When those people support someone for a leadership position who does not acknowledge the truth, then we all suffer.
I will continue to care about all people. I do believe that God calls us to do that. I will continue to hope and pray that more of us take the time to understand the scientific reality of what God created for us. And God expects that we are to take care of this world both for our sake and the sake of future humans on this planet. There are so many Christians who are sincere in their belief, but their actions are leading to a catastrophe not only for themselves, but the entire planet.
Being pro-science is being pro-family.
Being pro-science is being pro-God.
