Love My 2025 Hyundai Tucson

In June I purchased a 2025 Hyundai Tucson Plug-In Hybrid. I love it! My 2007 Honda CRV had had better days but it had been very reliable for 18 years and for its time had good gas mileage. My spouse leases a Nissan Ariya 2025 which is fully electric and we love the way that car handles and the ease of charging it in our garage with a level 2 Chargepoint unit. The only downside is that our country does not have adequate infrastructure for EVs to travel longer distances with ease. We had the chance to travel to Sweden back in May and they have the infrastructure. If I lived there, I would only have EVs.
I wanted to take another step to reduce my carbon footprint for the sake of my children and grandchildren as well as the rest of the world.
So I researched my options in the spring. I wanted a vehicle that had similar capacity to the Honda CRV both for transporting people as well as cargo. When Libby and I travel outside our local area I needed something that would have an adequate range and yet minimize the use of gasoline.
The American Lung Association estimates that our country could save $70 plus billion EACH YEAR in health care costs by changing to electric vehicles for our transportation. This is due to the worsening of air pollution and its effects on heart and lung health for all Americans from the use of ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles. Did you know that when air pollution from gas vehicles rises even a little, the death rate in that local area goes up in 1-2 days? An excellent study from Harvard in about 2017 shows that reality.
While the Toyota Rav4 plug-in hybrid was also a good option, it was not practically available.
I purchased my vehicle from the Morrie's Hyundai dealership not far away back in June.
I have driven over 3000 miles and have simply loved my car. It has a 32 miles range on electric. Then it switches automatically to the gas engine only when needed. We drove up north a few times this summer but have driven most miles here in the Twin Cities. So far, having driven 3397 miles my mpg rating is 119 mpg. Since my last gas refill, I have driven 344 miles with a range still of 342 miles and an mpg of 454! It is so easy to plug it in to the electric charger when I get home. If I was only driving long distance, the gas engine gets at least 35 mpg.
Hyundai has an amazing warranty- please see their website for details.
We can make the world a better place for our children and our grandchildren as well as support the local and national economy.
I trust science as well as my faith in a loving God to make the best decisions to support the future.
